The fracture toughness of fast reactor irradiated Type 321 stainless steel and Nimonic PE16
Creators

Description
J-integral fracture toughness data in the temperature range 23 to 500 deg C are presented for solution treated Type 321 stainless steel following fast reactor irradiation to 20 dpa, and compared with parallel data for the unirradiated solution treated and 20% cold worked conditions. Irradiation induces significant but not deleterious loss of fracture toughness comparable in magnitude to that produced by cold work. In contrast, preliminary assessments show that Nimonic PE16 irradiated to 52 dpa exhibits more marked fracture toughness degradation. (author)
