Flowing system in a primary coolant circuit for nuclear power plant
Description
Purpose: To precipitate and remove toxic metal ions at high efficiency from coolants circulating through the primary circuits in a BWR type nuclear power plant. Constitution: A metal ion removing device comprising filter elements made of metal having a greater ionization potential than that of cobalt ions is disposed to the flowing passage of a feedwater system and a recycling system through which coolants containing metal ions are passed. The filter element comprises fine metal wire chips, for example, made of aluminum, zinc and magnesium disposed within a frame which reduce and precipitate cobalt ions contained in the coolant as metallic cobalt on the surface of the metal chips. Since metal ions are precipitated by means of metal ion precipitators disposed to the filter element, the metal can be removed with increased efficiency and may not be dissolved again. (Moriyama, K.)
