Description

A summary and some extracts are given from a lecture presented by Sir Francis Tombs to the Institution of Nuclear Engineers in which he gave a personal assessment of the role of pressurised water and fast reactors in Britain's future nuclear strategy. Having reviewed the present position and future government commitments for nuclear power generation the question of public debate and problems of public acceptance were examined and the case for the breeder reactor considered.
