Low-cost Swine Manure Biodegradation using algal-bacterial systems (HRAP)
Description
Wastewater from livestock farming such as pig slurry can be effectively treated in High-Rate Algae Ponds (HRAPs). these systems are shallow (20-50 cm) open photo bioreactors in which bacteria use the oxygen released by microalgae for the oxidation of organic matter and in turn provide both CO2 and nutrients for microalgae activity.
