Influence of C60 fullerene on friction and wear characteristics of steel

  • 1. RAN, Sankt-Peterburg (Russian Federation). Inst. Problem Mashinovedeniya

Description

Effect of C60 fullerene addition to lubricating oil on friction, slipping and wear processes in steels is investigated. Tribologic testings are conducted while testing a friction pair of steel 45-steel 18Kh2N4MA. The maximum improvement of antifriction, antiwear and antiscratch indices of friction process is obtained under mechanical introduction of 5% fullerene powder to the lubricating oil. 7 refs., 3 figs
