Description

The gamma-ray spectrum and the conversion electron spectrum in the 1-MeV region from 177Hf (n, γ) 178Hf have been studied. From these data five members of a K = 2+ band, which may be identified as the gamma-vibrational band, were found. Confirmation of the levels was obtained from a γ-γ coincidence measurement. From the measured branching ratios we have deduced a value of the band-mixing parameter Z2 and this quantity is compared with different theoretical estimates. (author)
