Description
Employing gaseous sources of 125Xe, 127Xe and sup(129m)Xe gamma-gamma angular correlation experiments were performed. At low source pressure the resonance behaviour of angular correlations in 125I and 127I in a weak magnetic field were studied, and the resonance widths were found to be comparable with the natural widths. The possibility of determining short nuclear lifetimes from resonance measurements is discussed. The unperturbed angular correlation of cascades in 125I, 127I and 129Xe were measured and correlation coefficients determined. The mixing ratios deduced from the results are discussed. The magnetic moments of the 3/2+ states in 125I, 127I and 129Xe were measured. The results are discussed with respect to the quasiparticle model. (Auth.)
