Application of pinhole collimator in detection of focal lesions in posterior cranial fossa

  • 1. Krajska Nemocnice s Poliklinikou, Ostrava (Czechoslovakia)

Description

Scintiscanning is described of focal lesions in the posterior cranial fossa using a scintigraphic camera with a pinhole collimator in the posterior-anterior and lateral projections. In the analysis of 93 patients the sensitivity of the method was found to be 89.6%; the sensitivity of conventional methods in this group was 68.9%. The increased sensitivity of the pinhole collimator method against the standard scintigraphic technique is discussed for patients with suspect focal lesions in the posterior cranial fossa. (author)
