Some possibilities for polysaccharide modulation of radioresistance against fractionated irradiation

Description

The preventive properties of two polysaccharide substances containing different quantities of chelate-bounded Zn (1234 mg/g and 860 mg/g) are compared. An experimental model of double gamma irradiation with 30-day-interval between the two irradiation procedures is used. It is shown that the single subcutaneous polysaccharide treatment of hybrid mice BDF-1 made in different terms before the first gamma irradiation significantly enhances the 30-day survival after the second radiation procedure. It was established that the different quantitiy of the chelate-bounded Zn in the polysaccharide molecule modulates the level and the duration of the exerted protective effect of the investigated substances.
