Diffractive ''semioptical'' model of fast ion interaction with nuclei

Description

The Glauber diffraction theory for nucleus-nucleus interaction has been considered in the approach where one nucleus as a whole interacts with nucleons of the other nucleus. This approach being intermediate between the accurate Glauber theory and the optical limit essentially simplifies the calculations. Compared are the calculative in ''semioptical approximation'' and experimental sections for the 18 GeV/c α-particles with the C, O, Al, Cu, Ag, Pb nuclei. The oscillation model density was used for target-nucleus with mass number of A<= 16. The Woods-Saxon density with parameters taken from the experiments on electron scattering and photoproduction was used for heavier nuclei. The ''semioptical approximation'' calculation is in better agreement with experiment that in the case of optical approximation
