The new ECRIS 3 for the AGOR (Accelerateur Groningen ORsay) cyclotron
Creators

Description
The new ECRIS 3 ion source for AGOR was designed with the aim to obtain a magnetic trap with room temperature coils and permanent magnets with mirror ratios as large as possible, to be operated at a frequency of 14 GHz; the configuration is intended to make a rapid optimization of the extraction geometry possible. In particular for high-charge-state beams the new source has a good performance, e.g. for completely stripped oxygen an intensity of 11 eμA has been obtained. (author)
