Glandular contrast enhancement, clinical signs according to Kuemmerle and surgical findings in acute pancreatitis
Description
In a clinical study on acute pancreatitis, classifications according to the clinical signs defined by Kuemmerle (n=54) and the results from computed-tomographical staging on the basis of glandular contrast enhancement (n=47) were compared to findings evident from the surgical reports. In acute interstitial and necrotising pancreatitis the diagnostic discriminating power of the clinical parameters (Kuemmerle) was found to be characterised by a sensitivity of 69% and a specifity of 50%. When computed tomography was used to distinguish between the two disorders, the sensitivity and specifity levels attained were 83% and 92%, respectively. (orig.)
