Continuing development of a fuel performance model for the Canadian supercritical water reactor thorium mixed oxide fuel
Description
Fuel performance models are being produced for ThO2-based ceramic fuel in support of the ongoing development of a design analysis tool for the Canadian SCWR. To date, the model has produced realistic results for (Th,U)O2 fuel, based on a comparison with data from fuel irradiated at Chalk River Laboratories. Preliminary results for the (Th,Pu)O2 model compared to irradiated fuel data, although is encouraging, indicate significant development is still required to predict (Th,Pu)O2 behaviour. (author)
