Description
Seismic waves travelling from the source of a seismic event such as an earthquake or an underground nuclear explosion to different seismic stations installed throughout the world contain the signatures of the path and the source. ViSFoTA is a SW package, developed to do the analysis of earthquakes and underground nuclear explosions. It consists of two components - the pre and post processor for seismic data and the artificial neural network (ANN) module. A seismologist can select a window of interest from a given seismogram and synthesis several waveforms whose spectral amplitudes are the same as the given seismogram. These synthesised waveforms can be used to train an ANN for detecting seismic signal in a seismogram. It can also synthesis test data for testing the performance of the ANN. Though the package has been developed primarily for applications in seismology, it can also be used to perform analysis of time series generated by vibrations or electrical signals in different frequency bands. The sources of the signals may be as divergent as acoustic emission data of a sample test or medical instrument data of the diagnosis of a patient
