Isotopic effect in enthalpy of ammonium ion hydration

Description
Enthalpies of NH4Cl, ND4Cl, NH4Br, ND4Br solution in H2O and D2O were measured by the calorimetric method at 298.15 K. Standard enthalpies of solution were calculated. The division of isotopic effects in the hydration enthalpy into ion components was carried out. The isotopic effect had the negative value for ammonium ion that pointed to the increase of hydration at NH4+, H2O → ND4+, D2O transition
