Clearance criteria of Ra-226 in soils for NORM disposal in Malaysia

Description
It is a good practice to include radium as one of the key radionuclides to be considered in the cleanup criteria for safe release of a contaminated site with NORM wastes from past activities involving uranium and thorium. Factual information and technical evaluation of radium are given, to consider inclusion of the radium radionuclide into clearance criteria of the residual radioactivity levels for soil. Examples are given practices by some countries that in a clean-up activity of former uranium mines or mineral processing facility, radium is a very critical radionuclides in any remediation activities.
