On the method for ring fatigue crack formation in cylindrical samples

Description
A method has been developed for producing surface axisymmetric cracks in cylindrical specimens from 45, 40Kh, Kh18N10T steels intended for determining failure viscosity by means of a cyclic circular rigid bending. For geometrically similar specimens, a single curve, roughly independent of the grade of the material and of the external factors and describing the dependence of the relative drop in the value of the loading stress upon the relative size of cracks, has been obtained. An equation is given for calculating the loading stress and the calibration curve
