RI beam and its new applications

  • 1. Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Wako, Saitama (Japan)

Description

Radio isotope (RI) method has been developed, lately, and made new discoveries in the field of nuclear physics and cosmic physics. RI beam is generated by two methods. One is the second beam method and other the re-accelerating method. This paper describes the second beam method and it's application and next the experiments of re-accelerating method and the cosmic physics, and then RI beam factory project. The applications of RI beam are characterized with regard to freedom of selection of elements and isotopes, easy controlling of point and depth of shrubbery, good sensitivity of detection and free choice of life time and spin. Neutron skin, neutron halo, superheavy elements, multitracer method, treatment of cancer with heavy ions, synthesis of elements immediately after big-bang and high temperature combustion process accompanied with evolution of the stars - these problems in this field are explained. Abstract (Japanese)
