Functional status of erythron as studied in dynamics of fractionated irradiation
Description
In experiments on 104 guinea pigs exposed to fractionated irradiation (cumulative doses of 250, 500, 750, 1000 and 1500 rad), morphological, cytokinetic and autoradiographic study of erythron was made. A phase manner of changes in the erythropoiesis nad high radiosensitivity of red cells compartments were revealed. Functional changes in cells were shown to precede morphological and quantitative alterations. It was established that compensatory reactions of erythropoietic tissue and damaging reactions develop in dynamics of radiation sickness the extent of which is function of cumulative radiation dose
