Postsurgical telecobalt radiotherapy of mammary carcinomas
Description
The first part of the study is a literature survey. The second part deals with patients and results of radiotherapy of the Klinik and Poliklinik fuer Radiologie der Universitaet Muenchen. The patients with mammary carcinomas, who were treated between 1960 and 1969 were classified according to the TNM classification or they were attributed to stage I or II or III. When the therapy was begun, the mean age of the patients was 55 years, 80% of the patients was between 40 and 60 years old, 45% of the patients were in stage I, 35% in stage II and almost 20% in stage III. Im ersten Teil der Arbeit wird eine Literaturuebersicht gegeben. Der zweite Abschnitt befasst sich mit Patientengut und Ergebnissen der Strahlentherapie an der Klinik und Poliklinik fuer Radiologie der Universitaet Muenchen. Erfasst wurden die in den Jahren 1960 bis 1969 behandelten Patienten mit Mammakarzinomen nach der TNM-Klassifikation bzw. den Stadien I bis III. 438 von 539 Patienten wurden mit radikaler Mastektomie und Nachbestrahlung behandelt. Durchschnittsalter der Patienten bei Therapiebeginn war 55 Jahre. 80% waren zwischen 40 und 60 Jahre alt. 45% der Patienten befanden sich im Stadium I, 35% im Stadium II, fast 20% im Stadium III.
