Development status of periodic verificatioin program for safety-related motor operated valves

Description
Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI) and Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Company (KHNP) have performed evaluation of design basis operability of 1,775 safety-related MOVs (Motor Operated Valves) in 18 nuclear power plants since 1998 in order to address the regulatory recommendation issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology on June 13, 1997. It is expected that subsequent regulatory requirements for periodic verification of the operability during the lifetime of power plants as well as identification of potential degradation which affects the performance of valves are to be issued. To cope with this requirements adequately, an extensive PV (Periodic Verification) program for MOVs is being developed mainly by Korea Electric Power Research Institute. In the present paper, the PV program that has been developed to date is briefly introduced
