Description
For spectroscopical measurements, alpha emitters have to be brought as near as possible to the detector, and their radiation must not be notably absorbed or slowed down neither within the measuring preparation itself, nor between measuring preparation and detector, because otherwise their energy would be displaced and dispersed. In practice this means that the measuring preparations must cover an area of less than about 30 μg/cm2. Hence it follows that the most difficult probem subject to major errors consists in radiochemically separating the interesting radionuclides from the sample matrix, selectively and purely, and to produce a measuring preparation as thin as possible. Fuer eine spektrometrische Messung muessen die α-Strahler moeglichst nahe an den Detektor herangebracht und weder im Messpraeparat selbst noch zwischen Messpraeparat und Detektor merklich absorbiert bzw. abgebremst werden, da sonst die Energie verschoben und verteilt werden wuerde. In der Praxis bedeutet dies, dass die Messpraeparate nur eine Flaechenbelegung von weniger als etwa 30 μg/cm2 aufweisen duerfen. Daraus folgt, dass das schwierigste und mit den meisten Fehlern behaftete Problem ist, die interessierenden Radionuklide aus der Probenmatrix radiochemisch selektiv und rein abzutrennen und ein moeglichst duennes Messpraeparat herzustellen.
