Radiation exposure and radiation protection dosimetry - an attempt to give a critical review
Description
The author of the review of the current radiation protection regime explains his point of view as an expert in operational radiation protection and health physics. His approach focuses on the external dosimetry aspects, essential tasks of operational radiation protection. Aspects addressed are radiation doses, radiation dosimetry methodology as well as operational quantities, the dose range to be monitored, measuring instruments, calibration and measuring accuracy, type testing of dosemeters, and the reasons calling for monitoring of radiation sources and personal doses. Die Bilanz erfolgt aus dem Blickwinkel eines fuer den Vollzug des praktischen Strahlenschutzes Verantwortlichen, fuer den die dosimetrische Ueberwachung Teil der unmittelbaren operativen Schutzaufgaben ist. Auf die Fragen der Strahlenexposition, Strahlenschutzdosimetrie, operative Messgeraete im Strahlenschutz, zu messende Expositionshoehen, verfuegbare Messgeraete, Messgenauigkeit, Typenpruefung und auf die Notwendigkeit der Ueberwachung von Quellen und Personen wird nur beispielhaft eingegangen.
