Relative biological effectiveness of fast neutrons in relations with some criteria in barley
Description
The experiments have been carried out with dry barley seeds (12% moisture) of cv.Elza, irradiated by various gamma-ray and fast neutron doses. The radiation effect is established on plant height in the phase of 1 lead development and on the chromosome aberration frequency in the first post radiation mitosis. The relative biologic effectivity (RBE) of fast neutrons is estimated for both criteria studied. Results obtained prove that the RBE values for plant height in the 1 leaf phase at D50 is 22.60, while for chromosome aberrations it is 37 (at a 20% injury level). (author)
