Photoneutron fine structure in 208Pb and multipole resonance
- 1. Division of Physics, National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa, Canada K1A 0R6
Description
We have observed more than fifty peaks between 400 keV and 4 MeV in photoneutron spectra of 208Pb. Transitions occur to the ground state and first two excited states of 207Pb from discrete absorption features, some of which are less than 100 keV wide even above 11 MeV. Three states, the most prominent of which is at 9.034 MeV, under lie a controversial electron-scattering resonance, supporting an E2 rather than E0 interpretation
