Tchernobyl accident
Description
First, R.M.B.K type reactors are described. Then, safety problems are dealt with reactor control, behavior during transients, normal loss of power and behavior of the reactor in case of leak. A possible scenario of the accident of Tchernobyl is proposed: events before the explosion, possible initiators, possible scenario and events subsequent to the core meltdown (corium-concrete interaction, interaction with the groundwater table). An estimation of the source term is proposed first from the installation characteristics and the supposed scenario of the accident, and from the measurements in Europe; radiological consequences are also estimated. Radioactivity measurements (Europe, Scandinavia, Western Europe, France) are given in tables (meteorological maps and fallouts in Europe). Finally, a description of the site is given

On presente tout d'abord une description des reacteurs R.M.B.K. On aborde ensuite les problemes de suretes: controle du reacteur, comportement pendant les transitoires, pertes des alimentations electriques normales et comportement du reacteur en cas de breche. On propose ensuite un deroulement possible de l'accident de Tchernobyl: evenements anterieurs a l'explosion, initiateurs possibles, scenario plausible et evenements posterieurs a la fusion du coeur (interaction corium-beton, interaction avec la nappe phreatique). On propose une evaluation du terme source a partir des caracteristiques de l'installation et du scenario suppose de l'accident, puis une evaluation du terme source a partir des mesures effectuees en Europe et une estimation des consequences radiologiques. Les mesures de radioactivite (Europe, Scandinavie, Europe de l'Ouest, France) sont donnees sous forme de tableaux (cartes meteo et retombees en Europe).
