On the photofraction correction for voluminous sources and the mean photon path
Description
In this paper two formulae are produced to calculate the correction to the photofraction due to scattering and absorption in the source. Contribution to the photopeak due to forward scattering in the source is considered. Results for the forward scattering factor, the mean photon path in the source and the mean efficiency of a spectroscopy system (cylindrical source-3x3in.NaI) for the scattered photon spectrum, are given. The sources considered are aqueous solutions with spherical and cylindrical geometry. (author)
