Development of an incipient rotor crack detection method by acoustic emission techniques

Description
The objective of the program presented is to develop a method of detection and monitoring of crack growth in machine rotor by application of acoustic emission techniques. This program is performed by R and D Division of Electricite de France, jointly with INSA de Lyon. The first task of the program is relative to the characterization of acoustic emission during a progressive tensile test performed on a NCT specimen. The second task of the program deals with the experimentation of acoustic emission techniques for the monitoring of a specimen during cycling bending tests. The last task of the program is relative to evaluation of application of acoustic emission techniques for a small rotor integrity monitoring during fatigue rotation tests
Abstract (French)
L'etude presentee, engagee par la Direction des Etudes et Recherches d'Electricite de France en collaboration avec l'INSA de Lyon, a pour objective d'evaluer les possibilites de surveillance de l'integrite et de detection de fissuration d'un rotor de machine tournante, par application des techniques de l'emission acoustique. La premiere etape de l'etude est realise sur une eprouvette prefissuree. Elle est destinee a caracteriser les signaux d'emission acoustique emis lors de la sollicitation en traction. La second etape de l'etude est consacree a l'experimentation d'une surveillance, par emission acoustique d'eprouvette sollicitees en flexion rotative. La derniere etape de l'etude est relative a l'etude d'un cas pratique; un rotor de petites dimensions en mouvement est surveille par emission acoustique, de facon a evaluer la methode de surveillance preconiseeAdditional details
