Dynamics of the F2 layer depending on disturbances of the magnetosphere and solar wind

Description

The dynamics of the F2 region depending on disturbances of the magnetosphere and solar wind in different disturbance phases is considered. The dynamics of separation into layers of the main ionospheric through and subthrough formation at h=2.3-2.5 is shown. Physical interpretation of the observed phenomenopa is given. From the data considered it follows that space-time variations of the F2 region in the course of disturbances are determined by intensity of auroral electrojet, equatorial ring current and interplanetary magnetic field. The development of the extremely large positive phase is caused by intensification of thermospheric winds and electrodynamic drift of ionospheric plasma connected of electrical fields. In space-time varitions of electron density in the course of storm positive phase these phenomena have been clearly manifested - expansion and splittering of the main through as well as peaks and ionization through farther south of the main through have been observed
