Chapter 2. Acid treatment of borosilicate ores

Creators

Description

Treatment of borate ores with mineral acids is a simple way to obtain borate products. Already at the initial stage of processing the useful components pass into solution and the residue is mainly silica. Acid methods are selective depending on the processing conditions. Boron-containing raw materials are processed initially into borax or boric acid, and then into other products, from which boron-organic derivatives and elemental boron or its alloys are obtained. In this connection, the task arises to find ways to obtain these products or intermediates directly from ores.
