Kinetics and mechanism of anodic reaction of iron dissolution in acids in case of inhibition

  • 1. Permskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

Anodic reaction on the (111) plane of iron of zone melting (99.996%) is studied at the dissolution in sulfuric and hydrochloric acids containing FOI inhibitor. The latter having on sulfur atoms unshared electron pairs, possesses high adsorption properties. Kinetic parameters of the dissolution reaction are calculated proceeding from polarization curves revealed in 1 N acids at FOI concentrations from 2x10-6 up to 2x10-4M. It is shown that the dissolution rate on the surface screened by adsorbed products at optimum concentration of inhibitors is 20 times less than the total current of anodic reaction. Variants of possible interaction of FOI ion with surface iron atoms are presented
