Analysis of some products from the irradiation of solid chloramphenicol

  • 1. CHAM School of Pharmacy, Bruxelles (Belgium)

Description

After radiation sterilization, it is always necessary to demonstrate that any products formed in the irradiation are not harmful. The amounts of products formed in the gamma-irradiation of solid samples may be so small, that standard toxicity tests could be ineffective. Hence, analysis of the final products in the radiosterilized solid samples might be required. In this work, some chloramphenicol degradation products that are unique to radiolysis, i.e. different from the normal degradation products, were detected. (author)
