New steels of transition type on the base of Fe-Cr-Mn

  • 1. Zhdanovskij Metallurgicheskij Inst. (Ukrainian SSR)

Description

10Kh14AG6-based steels additionally alloyed with copper, molybdenum and vanadium are developed. The tempering of quenched steels, different conditions of cooling after austenitization, thermomechanical treatment of the alloys permit to regulate quantity martensite and austenite quantity in a wide range as well as the degree of austenite stability to γ→a-transformation during the following loading. The level of mechanical properties is determined by the initial quantity of a- and γ-phases, their defects and intensity of martensitic γ→α-transformation taking place during loading. The steels of the transition class on the basis of Fe-Cr-Mn have a higher strength level after rational heat treatment procedures than chromium- nickel steels used in industry. New steels are cheeper and do not require complex heat treatment
