Description
Steel samples of 9Cr18, GCr15 and Cr12MoV were subjected to different treatments,i.e. ion implantation, gas and ion nitridation, and quenching. Lower load wear tests of the specimens were performed. The wear resistance of N+ implanted samples were found to be the best. Results showed that the more the elements forming nitrides the more significant improvement of wear resistance. AES, XPS, TEM and X-ray diffraction examinations were performed to study comprehensively the structures and compositions of the samples
