Opinion of the Academy of Sciences on: 'Climate change and transformation of the power system'
Description
After having recalled the recent evolutions in climate knowledge and modelling, this publication outlines that research works on climate must be continued in order to improve simulation components and to reduce uncertainties, that energy efficiency must be improved to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, that new digital technologies must be explored to optimise the use of energy and more particularly the use of electricity, that scientific and technical means must be developed for the replacement of fossil energies by renewable energies, that methods and processes must be looked for to produce synthetic fuels aimed at replacing present fossil fuels, that the use of nuclear energy must be continued and developed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and that an effort must be made for research, development, innovation and industrialisation in the field of energy
