Phase diagrams of quenched titanium alloys

Description

Problems of formation of phase composition at quenching of Ti-Al-V system alloys from β- and (α+β) -regions are considered. In contrast to the known theoretical metastable diagrams of ternary systems, new phase regions in which there is metastable β-phase nonstable relative to applied stress or plastic strain, are ascertained. For VT16 and VT23 industrial titanium alloys the following diagrams are plotted: phase composition after quenching - heating temperature for quenching - holding time, taking into account completeness of α→β transformation at heating for quenching. On the basis of determined regularities classification of industrial (α+β)-titanium alloys is redetermined according to phase composition and structure in quenched state
