Study of the Influence of Particle Size Distribution on the Pore Spectrum of Fine Grain Graphites. Dragon Project Report
Description
The object of this study was to formulate more precisely the ideas arrived at in previous work (see D.P. Report No. 161) on the relations existing between the particle size distribution of the raw materials and the pore spectrum of the resulting graphitised products prepared as a result, Two series of experimental work have been carried out. In one, the particle size of the finest fraction (i.e. the carbon black) was varied, In the other, graphitised products were prepared from each of the separate raw material components, This work has clarified the methods by which fine grain graphites with a given pore spectrum can be prepared using graphite powders as starting materials. Furthermore, study of the evolution, in course of preparation, of the very different products we have tested can lead to improvements in the quality of fine grain industrial products. (author)
