Description
A tandem accelerator especially dedicated to the task of 14C dating using triply ionised 14C is now under construction at Oxford and is described here. The potential of the new facility is examined in terms of reduced sample size and increased timescale to some millions of years. The development of laser enrichment techniques to improve the range and accuracy of the method still further is discussed. (UK)
