Description
To enhance degree of burn-up of fuel in a nuclear reactor, the fuel pins are interconnected in groups by manifolds and the fuel wrapper is provided with an access point or points to allow fission gases in each fuel pin group to be vented periodically by for example laser piercing of one pin of each group or of the manifold.
