4πγ measuring device two NaI(Tl) well-type crystals for measuring the radioactivity of radionuclides with complex decay scheme
Description
A measuring set-up, consisting of two large-sized NaI(Tl) well-type crystals in 4 π arrangement, is described, which allows a quick and simple measurement of sources of those nuclides, whose gamma-ray transitions in the daughter nucleus are essentially cascading. To determine the activity only one measurement of the integral count-rate is required. The necessary total detection efficiency eta per decay of the nuclide under study is calculated. Uncertainties of the calibration and the decay data have only little effect on the uncertainty of the activity because of the high efficiency. Measurements of the activity performed on 110Agsup(m), 134Cs, 152Eu, 180Hfsup(m) and 182Ta led to uncertainties of 0.2% to 0.6% (1 sigma). Es wird eine aus zwei grossen NaI(Tl)-Bohrlochkristallen in 4π-Anordnung bestehende Messapparatur beschrieben, die eine schnelle und einfache Messung der Aktivitaet von Quellen solcher Nuklide gestattet, bei denen die Gammastrahlen-Uebergaenge im Tochterkern im wesentlichen ueber Kaskaden verlaufen. Zur Bestimmung der Aktivitaet wird nur eine Messung der integralen Zaehlrate sowie der berechenbare Wert eta der nuklidbezogenen Gesamtnachweiswahrscheinlichkeit benoetigt. Unsicherheiten von Kalibrier- und Zerfallsdaten wirken sich wegen der hohen Nachweiswahrscheinlichkeit nur wenig auf die Unsicherheit der Aktivitaet aus. Aktivitaetsbestimmungen an 110Agsup(m), 134Cs, 152Eu, 180Hfsup(m) und 182Ta fuehrten zu Messunsicherheiten von 0,2 bis 0,6% (1 sigma).
