Simulation of electron multiple elastic scattering

Description

After a brief description of physical models and numerical methods for the calculation of elastic scattering cross sections, the Monte Carlo simulation of multiple elastic scattering of high-energy electrons, and positrons, is considered. The emphasis is put on mixed (class II) simulation algorithms, which are shown to be considerably more accurate than the usual condensed (class I) schemes. The reliability of class II simulations with an approximate analytical differential cross section (W2D model) is demonstrated
