Description
As to transport of radio active materials (RAM), a new type of package which is to be used for transporting RAM by air was stipulated in IAEA Regulation (1969 ST-1).The package is required to keep its integrity even after being subjected to the impact to the unyielding target with velocity of 90 m/sec. Simulation analyses are carried out to the impact test which was performed in SNL to investigate applicability of an exist analytical code usually used for low velocity impact to such severe impact. The results indicated the necessity of an appropriate constitutive model of impact absorber though the code works well for high-rate and large deformation behavior. (author)
