Establishment and quality control of standard X radiation beams for calibration of instruments, mammography level

Description

Standard X radiation beams, mammography level, were established in this work using an X ray equipment (60 kV, Constant potential, tungsten anode) with additional molybdenum filtration, and using national and international recommendations. The performance of the low energy X ray system was evaluated through a quality control program and spectra analysis. All ionization chambers utilized in this work were submitted routinely to quality control tests for evaluation and assurance of their use. A Tandem system of plane parallel ionization chambers, developed at IPEN, was established for the quality control program of the X ray equipment, mammography level. Several ionization chambers (specific and non-specific for mammography radiation fields) were calibrated in the established radiation qualities. (author)
