Radiation doses of gonads of children during X-ray radiography of the abdomen
Description
A method of calculating the radiation exposure of children's gonads during abdominal X-rays is presented in which the gonadal dose is determined from the dose product per unit area which is measured in every X-ray examination. Until now, gonadal dose determination required complex measurements which, for reasons of time, personnel, and discomfort to the children examined, could not be carried out in routine operation. The method is based on studies carried out by KRAGH on adults using a Mird-5 phantom. (orig./MG)

In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird ein rechnerischer Weg zur Bestimmung der Strahlenexposition der kindlichen Gonaden bei Roentgenuntersuchungen im Abdominalbereich beschrieben. Er erlaubt es, aus dem bei jeder Roentgenuntersuchung gemessenen Flaechendosisprodukt die Gonadendosis zu ermitteln, die sonst nur mit komplizierten Messmethoden zu erhalten sind, die fuer den Routinebetrieb aus zeitlichen, personellen, und nicht zuletzt fuer die Kinder unzumutbaren Gruenden nicht durchfuehrbar sind. Vorbild fuer den Rechenweg stellten Untersuchungen dar, die KRAGH an Hand eines Mird - 5 - Phantoms fuer Erwachsene durchgefuehrt hat. (orig./MG)
