Description
A novel type of oxovanadium (V) complex in an unfavourable carboxylate rich O, N environment containing pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate and quinolin-8-olate has been synthesised and characterized on the basis of IR, UV/VIS and redox behaviour. The coordination sphere of the complex is of the type VO(ONO)(ON), where O atoms are of oxo, carboxylic and phenolic type and N atoms are of pyridine type. The complex is diamagnetic and displays only one intense band in the visible region (at 560 nm) due to ligand to metal charge transfer (LMCT) transition. It exhibits a quasi-reversible one-electron cyclic voltammetric response near 0.16 V vs SCE. (author)
