Drawing lessons from experience in technical co-operation

The Agency's Technical Co-operation programme has shown broad and dynamic growth during the past 20 years, in response to the expanding requirements of developing Member States for assistance in the application of nuclear techniques. In the decade 1973-1983, the Agency supplied to developing Member States expert services worth more than US$ 40 million, equipment worth more than US$ 65 million, and about US$ 41 million in fellowships and direct training. It is in this context of striving to maintain and improve technical co-operation capabilities through the drawing of lessons from its operations that the Agency has recently implemented a systematic approach to the evaluation of technical co-operation activities, to ensure that evaluation forms an integral part of the technical co-operation programme cycle
