A medical observation of influence of long-term low level irradiation from X-rays on health of roetgenologists

  • 1. Jiangxi Industry Hygiene Inst., Nanchang (China)

Description

A relation between the state of health and radiation dose was analysed for 100 cases of rentgenologists. For these roentgenologists, the mean yearly dose equivalant was 2.6 x 10-3 Sv and the mean accumulated dose 37.6 x 10-3 Gy. At such dose level, no change was found in haematological and immunological studies. As compared with non-irradiated medical workers (control group), no significant difference was shown in content of CAMP and cortisol in plasma and in frequency of lens opacities but markedly increased frequencies of micronucleus and chromosome aberration in peripheral lymphocytes were observed. The findings also indicated that the increase in frequencies was correlated with accumulated dose for both micronucleus and chromosome aberration
