Research progress in selection and corrosion resistance of container material for HLW geological disposal
- 1. China Institute for Radiation Protection, Taiyuan (China)
Description
High-level radioactive waste (HLW) geological disposal container is a constituent part of the multi-barrier concept. The effectiveness of the disposal container is determined by the corrosiveness of its material. This paper introduces two methods in selecting container materials, materials which are considered adaptive to certain geological environments as well as potential corrosion types in HLW geological disposal. Also it summarizes approaches to predict the lifetime of HLW disposal containers. (authors)
