US reactors - tombstones of progress
Creators
Description
A sudden increase in construction costs, an unexpected decrease in energy consumption and - last but not least - the Three Miles Island accident of 1979 have been a nasty blow - some even say a death blow - to America's nuclear industry. Although President Reagan, with the intention to make his country independent of expensive crude oil imports, has promised to simplify legislation and thus to revive the industry, the chances of success are considered to be doubtful. Abstract (German)
