Theory of strand breaks in DNA by heavy charged particles

Description

Heavy charged particles deposit energy along their trajectories; the geometrical pattern of such energy deposition is called the track structure. The authors are developing a theoretical framework based on track structure and the associated radiation chemistry toward understanding the production of single-strand and double-strand breaks by heavy particles in DNA molecules in aqueous solution. The progress made so far is briefly reported here
